November 11. 2009: We had a great afternoon with J's and K's today! They were really spread out, across Haro Strait and heading South West. J1, aka Ruffles, paid us a special visit!!

October 27. 2009: We went out this morning with very few boats on the water; after searching for humpbacks without success, we went to Race Rocks to enjoy the sea lions. On our way back to Victoria, someone from shore had spotted a lone male transient killer whale. We spent the rest of our trip with the orca, watching him travel back and forth, going through a flock of gulls, probably enjoying a little lunch himself!

October 19. 2009: Monday afternoon was by far one of the top three trips of the year for me... On the way to see two Transient killer whales, sea lions were everywhere, rafting, harbour seals and Dall's porpoise were riding the bow of the boat. The transients were T87 and T88. We left the T's to go and spend some time with Bart, aka Cleaver the humpback whale. It was incredible!!! We were watching the humpback whale and all of a sudden multiple fins were everywhere, it seemed. J pod was coming in from the West. What an incredible encounter. We went to Race Rocks as there's just no way to leave it out and on our way home, the southern resident killer whales were pulling together into a resting formation. It was quite the sight as the sky was gold, orange, blue, pink and purple...
